In this room the
portraits of the Sanvitale’s family members, from the end of the
XVIIth century, to the second half of the XVIIIth century are
preserved. The portrait of the Count Jacopo Antonio Sanvitale
(dressed as Eaco Panellenio) is the masterpiece of this room painted
by the famous portrait-painter Giuseppe Baldrighi (the official
painter of the Borbone’s family, dukes of Parma in the second
half of the XVIIIth century).
The Count wears an Arcade’s dress (as a shepherd) because in 1739
he was the founder of the Parmese Arcadia. At the sides the two
oval paintings are the portraits of his father, the Count Luigi
Sanvitale and his mother Corona Avogadro from Vercelli, painted
by the famous painter Giovanni Maria delle Piane called the Molinaretto
(at the beginning of the XVIIIth century).
