In this room the
portraits of the last Farnese’s family members (dukes of Parma
from 1545 to 1731) are exposed. The portrait of Elisabetta Farnese
is important; she is the last member of the family, who married
Filippo the Vth of Borbone, King of Spain (1714) (the portrait
of E. with the imperial crown was painted by Giovanni Maria of
Piane called the Molinaretto, in occasion of her marriage). When
her uncle died Elisabetta inherited the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza
and left it to her second son Don Filippo of Borbone (the portrait
is on the right of the Elisabetta’s one) starting the Borbone’s
dynasty of Parma.
