Here
a great painting by Bartolomeo Schedoni
is preserved, he was called “The Caravaggio from Modena”, because
he painted with strong chiaroscuro’ contrasts, but above all because
he lived as the Caravaggio (or, his life was similar to the Caravaggio’s
one). In fact he died suicide when he was 37 years old in 1615,
after a night when he lost a lot of money with game of chance.
The painting, which represents the “Last dinner” comes from the
Cappuccini’s church of Fontevivo where Schedoni worked from 1608
to 1611.
